§10-84.
   
   The father of a child born out of wedlock is liable for the reasonable
   expenses of the mother during the period of her pregnancy, confinement
   and recovery, whether or not the child is born alive. This liability
   may only be enforced within three (3) years after the birth of the
   child and, where the child is born alive, it must be enforced in an
   action for the support of the child.
